WABER, PRESIDENT - ARTSOURCE MANAGEMENT LLC (EST. 1997)
Art Waber has over 25
years of experience as a professional arts administrator, booking
manager, arts management consultant, and fundraiser. He is currently
President of Artsource Management LLC, a tour booking and arts
management consulting firm. Artsource Management has been chosen to
coordinate five National Dance Project (NDP) tours over the past eight
seasons, including the groundbreaking tour of "Eclipse: Visions of the
Crescent and the Cross" with Forces of Nature Dance Theatre Company.
Crescent/Cross will continue to tour through the 2009-2010 season. Other
assignments include tour booking for Michael Bashaw's Theatre of Sound,
Rhythm In Shoes, Quasar Dance Company (Brazil), Teatro De Ciertos
Habitantes, with their Latin ACE Award-winning production of "Monstruos
Y Prodigios: La Historia De Los Castrati", touring in 2008-2009 and
2009-2010, Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company with this year's American
Masterpieces Dance-funded tour of the legendary Alwin Nikolais
repertory, Canadian JUNO Award-winning guitarist Robert Michaels, and
BalletX, one of America's most promising contemporary ballet companies
with PennPAT support through 2010.
He served for three years as the Residency Resource Team Manager for the
Ford Foundation-funded
Africa Exchange
Program,
and was a consultant for the Arts International Contextualization/
Translation project featuring the critically-acclaimed film-theatre
work, El Automóvil Gris (The Grey Car). Created and produced by the
leading Mexican playwright Claudio Valdes Kuri, El Auto most recently
toured the U.S. with support from
ArtésAmericas.
Previous assignments include the American Dance Festival where he
directed the ADF On Tour project, booking performances and tours for the
Dayton Contemporary Dance Company (including a touring team of
humanities scholars), Nucleodanza (Argentina), along with pre-tour
planning for the first U.S. tour of the Guangdong Modern Dance Company
(China). In 1999 he returned to direct the USIA-funded International
Arts Management/Cultural Tourism (IAM) program at ADF. He also served
for five years as the Executive Director of the Ririe-Woodbury Dance
Company.
Mr. Waber has independently produced a variety of dance and theatrical
performances. He has also created and managed needs assessment and
design plans for small community-based arts centers, audience surveys
for a variety of arts and public broadcasting organizations, community
cultural inventories and assessments, and business planning for arts
organizations. Panelist assignments have included the Durham Arts
Council, North Carolina Arts Council, the Lila Wallace-Reader's Digest
Arts Partners Program, Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, Arts Midwest, Arts
International and other organizations.
Professional affiliations include the North American Association of
Performing Arts Managers and Agents, the Association of Performing Arts
Presenters, Western Arts Alliance, Arts Midwest (Co-Chair: 2007 Arts
Midwest Conference), and Dance/USA. |
